Laura M. McCurdy is an Associate with Weiss Burkardt Kramer LLC, joining the Firm in 2006, Laura represents several local school districts before the Allegheny County Board of Property Assessment Appeals and Review and the Court of Common Pleas’ Board of Viewers in property owner and school district property assessment appeals. She is instrumental in negotiations among taxing bodies and owner representatives to settle property valuation disputes. She developed and implemented procedures to bring the firm into compliance with Federal and State regulations and monitored support staff for continuing compliance with relevant regulations. Laura created new procedures for efficient completion of responsive documents while coordinating a variety of legal matters relating to clients’ various needs.

Laura is instrumental in the firm’s services for delinquent tax collections, including Sheriff Sales. Her experience includes Daily Motions, pleadings preparation, client and opposing counsel contact, Bankruptcy Court and hearings. Her extensive experience in collection of large delinquent tax lien portfolios through foreclosure proceedings enhances the continuing success of the Firm in the educational and municipal sectors.

Laura received the Pennsylvania “Super Lawyer – Rising Star” honor in 2010, 2011 and 2012, given by Law & Politics to only 2.5 percent of the more than 45,000 attorneys practicing in Pennsylvania. Originally from Florida, Laura graduated from high school in Tampa and then received her Bachelor of Arts in History with a minor in Political Science from the George Washington University in Washington, D.C. She then graduated from the American University, also in Washington, D.C., with a Master of Arts with a concentration in Public Communications. She received her Juris Doctor from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 1999. Laura is a member of the Municipal and School Solicitor’s section, the Women in the Law Division and the Real Property section of the Allegheny County Bar Association.
